Invading Dallas

Last year, I posted a photo I took of a Space Invaders mosaic affixed to a column in a parking garage near my office.

I had no idea where it came from, but thought it was cool. Today, Kotaku posted a find of a similar mosaic in Amsterdam, and noted casually that "everyone is probably familiar" with this series of mosaics. Well, no. I'm as a big gamer nerd as there is, but I'd never heard of this.

Turns out, it's actually part of an effort by a French graffiti artist named Invader to plaster the vintage video game franchise across cityscapes around the world.
